H.BEACH 6QT. S.STEEL OVAL SLOW COOKER Review
I was going to buy a unit that switched to warm after cooking from Wal-Mart but came home and found it had horrible reviews, so I looked to see which units had good reviews and found this one - not only does it go to warm after cooking, it has a probe!br /br /I've cooked about 6 meals in it so far, including a corned beef from frozen, put it in with water and 12 hours later on low it was one of the best corned beefs I've had in a while! Tried a Pacific Pork Roast recipe from [...] in order to test out the probe (I'm very cautious with pork and loved the fact it had a thermometer for it). It hit the temperature and then went to warm which was good since my kids didn't eat till 9 at night. Any other crockpot and this would have been way overcooked and dry.br /br /I highly recommend it. I was a little concerned about the fact that there is a hole in the lid where the probe goes in and what that would do when the probe isn't being used, but so far it is just fine, I haven't noticed any impact on the liquid in the unit. I just really love this unit. I'm going to get one for my daughter for her birthday, and one another friend for Christmas.br /

This Crock is Cracked! - PammyLorel - Midwest
The crock insert in my pot developed a long crack that went all the way across and through the bottom. I did a little Internet research and found that MANY other people had had the same problem. When I called the company, Hamilton Beach's customer service was not only unhelpful, they were downright hostile and were completely unconcerned about this possible safety issue.
6 Quart...don't believe it! - C. Snover - South Carolina
Although I did not purchase this item through Amazon.com, I did use the reviews to consider this purchase. I was sure that this was the one for me!br /br /I have an old Rival that has served me well for 15 years. As my family has grown, I am now in the market for a larger size slow cooker...preferable with newer convenience features. My old round slow cooker measures 4.5 quarts liquid, filled to the rim. Figured 6-quart would do the trick.br /br /Purchased my new "HB 33966 6-Quart Slow Cooker" with chrome exterior (it looked sharp!), got it home out of the box, and realized its crock really didn't appear much bigger than my old crock. Thought surely I was deceived because of the oval shape...NOPE!! I got out my measuring glass and started filling with water to test...5-quarts, flush to the inside rim!!!br /br /I quickly boxed it up and called Hamilton Beach customer service. Say it ain't so! I got a really nice customer service rep...who, not wanting to call me a liar, went and found a quart jar as we were on the phone, and started the measuring test herself. Well, same thing! She didn't know what to say, so she went and got a supervisor, who said the measure is to the "outer rim". Give me a break!! I'm talking the outer rim that is around the lid. And, measuring from inside to outside rim, does not account for that 6th cup!! Try it and see!br /br /First of all, you can't fill it to the out rim because that's where the lid seats. Secondly, you wouldn't even fill it flush to the inside rim (the 5-quart mark) in cooking unless you wanted a real mess on your hand.br /br /I have nothing else to report, except for this deceptive advertising claim, as I quickly returned this product and ordered another highly rated 7-quart slow cooker. You can bet that I will have my measuring cup ready for this one, too!br /br /You decide!br /
